Kid friendly restaurants that we recommend, things for kids to do while they are here and even free printable games, stationary, post cards and more.
New this year!
Kids Activities & Crafts Book -- It's fun just playing in the sand and racing the waves to shore. But if the RED FLAGS are out, it's time to head for the pool and stay on the beach! In the office we have put together an activities book just for kids. Want to make a sand castle? We have step by step instructions! We also have a limited supply of sand buckets and castle turrets. Collect seashells. We have pages to identify the shells. There are ideas for games to play on the beach and simple crafts to make using our beautiful white sand. We have tried to keep materials needed down to just a few basic items that can be found at Wal-Mart or Al's (just across the road at Silver Beach). Some of the items needed for the games such as beanbags can be checked out at the office or bought for a nominal fee. Supplies are limited, so it's a first come first served basis. Although the activity book cannot leave the office, we will gladly run a copy of the games or craft you choose to take along with you. We do require an adult to be present.
These are some great websites you may want to check out before you arrive: www.familyfun.go.com and www.howstuffworks.com . We have found these pages to be user friendly and very informative. We have no connections to these websites; we just found them to offer simple, fun things to do with children that require few materials other than sand.
Lulu's at Homeport Marina - Lulu is the sister of Jimmy Buffet-and sometimes (in a blue moon) he's there. When you think beach bar-lots of sand, sun and singers-this is the place. It's kid- friendly, with the crowd growing older as the nite grows longer. Check the mullet wrapper or the pelican for who will be playing. Menu is varied but try the "redneck" caviar. This restaurant is usually very crowded. Lulu's has a KIDS MENU www.lulusathomeport.com
Calypso Joe's - What's that strange sound? It's a conch shell-blowing in the wind. The hermit crab races are on!!!!! "Parents Magazine" rates this restaurant very highly. Fun place to be. Caribbean fare. We love the crabmeat gazpacho. Fun decor in a lively setting.
