Mardi Gras
Did you know that although the first celebration of Mardi Gras was in Louisiana in 1699, the first organized Mardi Gras celebration held in a city was in Mobile, AL in 1704? Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville established a French fort and settlement and called it Mobile at Twenty-seven Mile Bluff. It served as the capital of the French colony of Louisiana for almost a decade. This is where the first organized Mardi Gras celebrations began. Here you will find pictures from previous Mardi Gras parties and parades as well as free printable Mardi Gras scrapbook sets.

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Mardi Gras is tons of family fun. Everyone is celebrating. Our schools are out for the day and we may be one of the few communities where the local churches participate and have floats in the Mardi Gras Parades. Nearby Mobile AL and Pensacola, FL have many Mardi Gras parades in the weeks before Fat Tuesday and are both about an hour away.
